This year, Patek Philippe celebrates the 20th anniversary of its sporty Aquanaut collection that had its debut in Basel in 1997.

The brand has planned several premieres, the first being the new Aquanaut Ref. 5168G which is the first men’s Aquanaut wristwatch in 18K white gold. REVIEW: Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167a :: WatchHobbyist :: TM September 18, 2016 Video

Grab a coffee, it’s a long one!! I’m aiming to create a shorter, more focused review soon, but in this video, I’ve hopefully covered every aspect of the watch, including the amazing lume, and 8.5mm thickness of this incredible watch from Patek Philippe.

In the review, I also talk about the buying process I went through, and my thoughts on the key rivals of the watch, including the Nautilus 5711 from the same stable.

Thanks for watching. Make sure you subscribe to the channel for notifications of new videos!

You bought a Patek? Whaaat

Reply Michael Günter September 18, 2016 at 10:31

Great review! I agree with eco8gator – only people who don't own it and never even held it in their hands say stupid things about the Aquanaut. For me ist has been the exit watch for more than five years and most of the time my daily rocker and it was not the first PP I owned. What amazes me is the light weight of the whole composition of strap and watch that makes you forget about wearing a watch most of the time – all the details you showed in the video are amazing but at the end of the day I forget about them. Go on with those reviews…

What I don't like about it is the date wheel. It should be black with white numbers. At this price point date wheels should not be a simple white which clashes with the dial.

Ah gotcha lol gorgeous piece actually have an opportunity to get one this week if things play out in my favor will see .

Looking into getting a 5167, tried it on a bracelet and the rubber strap… I'm still on the fence. This was a great review. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it. You got a new subscriber! ?

I like the watch, I just wish that Patek would make it harder to fake, ive seen some very impressive fakes of this model. the dial is lacking fine details and details hard to copy.

Reply John Bostrom September 18, 2016 at 13:43

I didn't think that anyone could love this watch more than me. It's the perfect, do anything, go anywhere watch imo. Best of all, it's a Patek which is thin, sporty and elegant all in one. I've owned every Rolex there is and sold them all b/c of the thickness, flashyness and overall in your face look that only Rolex can deliver. This is the stealth wealth, luxury piece that needs not to be flashy or impress anyone except the owner. I will take this over a Sub or Daytona C anyday of the week and it is a keeper forever. To the haters, I would suggest trying one on b/c saying the 5711 is better. I agree the 5711 is also a great piece, but the tropical strap and the dial on the 5167 is something to behold in person rather than a bunch of poor photos….

Only 48 hours reserve right? Most Patek is right?

Reply Peter K September 18, 2016 at 14:40

3:39 it skips again

Reply Stephen Murphy September 18, 2016 at 15:38

Great piece indeed and review, but as you mentioned when you spend this kind of money you would expect more, in my case a hacking feature. And you can get this in a smaller thickness. My JLC ultra this which is less than 8mm has this feature. I hope the new Nautilus introductions later this year will include these features.

PATEK IS OVERRATED. ROLEX IS THE BEST.

Reply cookingprof September 18, 2016 at 17:32

A Patek Calatrava is a watch that you want to keep for the rest of your life. The design is super classic.

Reply Armani Nguon September 18, 2016 at 17:59

Patek Phillip is gorgeous! Even the grand complication like the 5960R or the calatrava, 5277J

Reply Charlie Foxtrot The 3rd September 18, 2016 at 18:55

I was never a high end watch guy. A good Tag Heuer for $1000 was plenty good enough for me. But for purely investment purposes, these are a very good way of investing. In time and well cared for, they will retain much of their value. Especially the names like Patek.

you can't even say Audemars Piguet right….lost all credibility lol

Reply andr00123 September 18, 2016 at 21:10

The classic Patek's aren't so bad, though I really do like the 5180G Skeleton. For a high-end watch at around the same price, I much prefer the Lange's.

Of course, I would never have this kind of money to spend on a watch, so I'll stick with my beloved Speedmaster.

The Richard Mille's are grossly over priced, and kind of ugly. Sorry.

Reply KegPatcha September 18, 2016 at 21:27

If I had a stupid amount of money to spend, I would definitely have a collection like yours.

Reply WC HEAD. September 18, 2016 at 22:09

1.40,very similar to mine, except mine has a black dial, always been my favourite brand.
